Visakhapatnam National Security Guards (NSG) conducted a car rally here on Saturday as part of all India black cat car rally.
The Government of India is celebrating 75 years of Independence and several programs like the car rally are planned under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The car rally here consisting of 15 SUVs driven by elite NSG commandoes was flagged off from Lal Quila, New Delhi by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on October 2. During the span of 30 days the rally will cover a distance of 7500 km (approx), covering 18 cities in 12 States along the Golden Quadrilateral passing through historic places associated with the freedom movement. It will conclude on October 30 at the Police Memorial, New Delhi.
In this connection, NSG contingent reached Visakhapatnam on October 14. The rally visited Town Hall which was a major meeting point for the freedom fighters and became the focal point for the freedom struggles.
The car 4ally was flagged off on Saturday by K. Rama Mohana Rao, Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust from the INS Kursura Submarine Museum and TU 142 Aircraft Museum on the RK Beach road in the presence of T. Venu Gopal, Secretary, Administrative Department of VPT. The rally leader Col. O.S. Rathore. The rally will move towards its next destination Vijayawada, where they will visit Gandhi Hill, a monument of Indian independence struggle.
